The largest US magazine publisher finally caves on offering Newstand-friendly subscriptions. Good news for its readers, but if Time Inc goes with the same dreadful Adobe publishing tools that most other publishers seemed to throw their hands up and accept by default, it’s a terrible step forward for the mainstream content reading experience.
Here’s a thought: what if Flipboard licensed its technology to publishers? While it may not be a one-size solution, it’s a far more modern, enjoyable experience that could work for most magazines.
